The timeline
A broken wing at Normafa
My arm was trapped in an orthopedic sling from the motorcycle crash, but I couldn't care less. We wandered the trails above the city, split a picnic, and let the hours slip away. Right then, I knew keeping up with you was going to be my favorite challenge.
Balaton sun & things left behind
Quiet, sun-drenched days by the water in Alsóörs and slow mornings waking up in Budapest. You packed your bags for America, but you left behind little pieces of yourself—hair ties, sweaters, and a presence that never really left my apartment.
The ocean between us
You boarded your flight for Grand Lake, and the eight-hour gap opened up. Suddenly our days were measured in early-morning wakeups, sleepy goodnight voice notes, and calculating time zones just to steal an hour of each other's voice.
The unlocked door
You made me swear to leave the door unlocked for when you returned in the fall. An eight-hour distance and five months apart, and you were already making sure you had a straight path back into my arms.
A ticket with your name on it
No more waiting for October. I booked the Airbus to Denver and locked in the cabin at Grand Lake. Looking at a confirmation screen never felt so much like taking a full breath of air.
Reunited in the pines
Seeing you on that dock made thousands of miles of travel vanish instantly. We spent days drifting across the water, surviving trails that tore our ankles up until we collapsed laughing on the cabin floor, and learning that even noisy lodge heaters can't ruin heaven.
Nursing me from 5,000 miles away
I wrecked my ankle on a badminton court and ended up stuck in an air cast, feeling completely useless. But you checked in between coffee shop rushes and restaurant shifts, giving me all the gentle, teasing love I needed to heal up fast.
Admiral Floof shows up
After weeks of bear jokes and nervous dock watches, the local legend himself finally walked right past you. Proof that your instincts are always right—and that you're far braver than you let on.
Mountain passes & Aspen nights
Round two. Winding our way over the dizzying drop-offs of Independence Pass, holing up in mountain lodges, and getting dressed up for theater nights where I couldn't take my eyes off you.
14,286 feet above everything
Standing in the freezing 6:00 AM chill at Kite Lake, trading deep breaths for thin air. We scrambled four fourteeners in a single morning, and standing next to you at the top of Mount Lincoln—above the clouds, exhausted, sore, and completely together—is a view I'll never forget.
Into the wild south
You trade the pine trees for tropical air and dusty roads, strapping on your pack for Mexico and Guatemala. Watching you chase the world makes me fall for you all over again, even while I count down every single hour until you're back.
Standing on ancient stones
You reach the peaks of Machu Picchu, standing among the clouds in the high Andes. An incredible journey for an extraordinary girl, carrying a piece of my heart up every single stone step.
Coming home to District 11
The end of the wait. You walk through the door with your pack, drop your keys, and let the travel wash away. No boarding passes, no time differences, and no more goodbyes at airport gates—just you, finally home where you belong.
First snow in Grindelwald
Checking into Jungfrau Lodge with the towering north face of the Eiger right outside our window. Cold alpine air, racing down the mountain side by side, and spending the nights huddled over bubbling fondue and hot wine, holding hands under the winter stars.
